How long is the treatment period for anxious depressive states?

  In general, new antidepressants take effect within 1 to 2 weeks, with the most pronounced effect at 1 to 2 months, and clinical recovery can be achieved in 2 to 3 months.  The expert consensus recommendations are: First episode: After clinical recovery, it is advisable to maintain treatment with medication for 6 months to more than 1 year, with the drug dose maintained at or slightly below the therapeutic dose if possible. Whether the first treatment with medication reaches an adequate dose and sufficient course, how effective it is, and whether maintenance therapy is adhered to, are key factors affecting relapse.  For those with more than 2 relapses in the last 5 years, it is advisable to maintain treatment for more than 2 to 3 years.  For those who have more than 3 relapses, long-term medication is recommended.
