After haemorrhoid surgery, as the local wound does not heal completely early, localised pain in the anus can occur to varying degrees during and after defecation, and is a common post-operative complication.
Patients may be advised to use topical cures to aid defecation. Oral painkillers can also be taken when the pain is unbearable. To further reduce localised wound pain, patients are advised that they need to actively change their medication symptomatically to promote the healing of the wound mucosa.
