Does constipation cause anal pain?

Constipation and dry stools are likely to cause local pain in the anus, mainly related to too dry and hard stools. When the patient has dry stool and constipation, excessive forceful defecation and long defecation time are the reasons to aggravate the local pain in the anus. Excessive forceful defecation may lead to increased local pressure in the anus, thus increasing the possibility of local swelling and pain.
