World Stroke Day is October 29, and this year’s theme is Stroke Risk in the Middle Aged. Post-stroke depression is often overlooked. Post-stroke depression is a common complication of stroke. At least 40% to 50% of stroke patients experience depression after stroke, mostly occurring about 2 months to 1 year after stroke. It can lead to aggravation of both physical symptoms and mental pain, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients and slows down the recovery from stroke. Severe patients may have thoughts of lightness of life, and if not prevented in time, some patients may lead to the consequences of suicide. The family often ignores the emotional changes of patients because of their work. And the occurrence of the following groups of people are prone to: 1, is still at work, the main worker in the family, 2, has a high level of education, cognitive wide, may have higher social value, easy to doubt, 3, to the possible heavy family burden, the serious impact on personal work life and other psychological factors. Clinical manifestations: personality change, mood disturbance, depression, unhappiness, hopelessness, low self-esteem, memory impairment, inattention, anxiety, anger and irritability, physical discomfort, headache and fatigue, sleep disturbance, dizziness, pain, gastrointestinal discomfort, sexual dysfunction, menstrual problems, etc. Non-pharmacological treatment The most commonly used cognitive-behavioral therapy is a psychological treatment method that enables the patient to change his or her perceptions through explanations, and the symptoms can be reduced or disappeared, thus achieving the purpose of treatment. Encouraging family members to accompany and visit with friends and relatives helps to form a good family atmosphere and give patients more care and attention, relieving patients’ pressure and alleviating their burden; at the same time, using nurses themselves as an important social resource to inspire and encourage patients to maintain optimism and guide them to vent their negative emotions to promote their physical and mental health.
