Does medication for thyroid nodules help?

If you have a thyroid nodule, it is recommended that the nodule be initially identified as benign or malignant, because benign thyroid nodules do not need to be treated with medication and there are no very effective medications to remove or disperse the nodules. Theoretically, medications that inhibit the release of thyroid hormones may be useful, but they generally have more side effects than they are worth, so benign thyroid nodules are not worth the cost. If the thyroid nodules are malignant, surgery should be considered. The drugs used after surgery are those that inhibit the release of thyroid stimulating hormones, such as thyroxine tablets or euthyroxine, etc. It depends on whether the surgery is simply to remove the nodules or to do a unilateral thyroid lobectomy or a total thyroid excision.
