In the course of the long-term struggle with cancer, with the increasing understanding of cancer, human measures to treat cancer, attitudes and concepts towards cancer have been constantly revised. Some correct concepts are gradually being popularized and practiced, such as “active prevention, protection of environment and healthy lifestyle”, “achieve ‘three early’ (early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment) and return the body to spring”; “live in peace with tumor and live with tumor”; “confidence and strong will are the remedies to suppress cancer”, etc. Some other fallacious concepts are still popular, such as “advanced tumor patients will die soon”, “bone metastatic cancer is incurable”, and so on, to name a few. So is bone metastatic cancer an incurable disease or not? Most people think the answer is yes, and even some medical professionals hold the same view. When they see a patient with bone metastasis in the outpatient clinic, they think there is no measure to deal with it, so they tell the patient’s family: “Take the patient home, eat and drink well, forget about it, it is already an advanced tumor, there is no way to treat it.” Disregarding whether this statement is reasonable and scientific, at least, such negative words must have destroyed the confidence of the patient’s family and the patient in a huge and relentless way. In 2006, the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially included tumor in the category of chronic diseases and identified it as a controllable chronic disease. The formation and development process of cancer has the characteristics of a chronic disease with slow pathological changes and cannot be cured in a short period of time. As chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases have similar characteristics, although the death and disability rates of the latter two are higher than those of tumors, most people are far more afraid of tumors than other chronic diseases. Part of the reason should be attributed to the limited experience of some professionals and the exaggeration of some media, and it is not too much to say that some tumor patients are scared to death. It is true that advanced tumors are difficult to be cured at this stage, but it is also because the danger and mystery of advanced tumors have inspired people’s determination to overcome tumors and explore the true nature of tumors. Since the World Health Organization considers tumors as chronic diseases, it means that tumors are controllable to some extent. According to our clinical practice, some patients with advanced tumors can be effectively controlled, their quality of life significantly improved and their survival period significantly prolonged through interventional and other comprehensive treatments. Especially in this category of patients, although the tumor metastasizes to the skeletal system, he/she has good function of heart, brain, liver, kidney and other internal organs. After the tumor on the skeleton is effectively controlled, the pain is relieved, the functions such as sitting, standing and walking are restored, the quality of life is good and the confidence of life is strengthened, so that they can actively cooperate with other treatments and prolong their lives. I see hope in my medical practice, and more and more successful cases inspire me to go forward. As you can see in the picture (read the text first, then see the picture) There are those who question the significance of improving quality of life and prolonging life, seeing it as a waste of family and social wealth and resources. I personally agree that life only comes once, and to a certain extent life is priceless. The blind writer Helen dreamed of the happiness of having “three days of light”, let alone having a precious life. Wealth is created by people, social resources are for people, the government has the responsibility and obligation to reasonably deploy more social resources to protect the health of citizens, wealth and resources used to save lives that is the “right use”, that is the return of human nature on the understanding, “people-oriented, happy life, long and healthy life “It is the ultimate pursuit of family and society. As the old saying goes, “If you die in life, you can die in the right place. . Since no one can escape from death, should all people wait passively and be pessimistic and depressed until death comes? Obviously not, patients have the right to get rid of pain and pursue a happy life, I think all people, including patients, should have the confidence and enthusiasm to cherish life, improve the quality of life, live with dignity, know, taste and enjoy life. I am often touched by my patients, who fight against their illnesses with strong faith and insist on spending every day seriously, optimistically and open-mindedly despite their weaknesses and occasional illnesses. Their strong perseverance and rational attitude towards life infected me, and they really needed professional help to drive away the disease when they were hit by it. The inner shock, the look in the patient’s eyes when he/she is helpless and the sense of personal heroism and responsibility to relieve the patient’s pain continue to drive me to think hard and seek for the treatment of complex cases. There are many joys when treatment is successful, but also occasional frustrations when treatment fails and I face pressure from various aspects; although when I encounter setbacks, I will lament that my personal ability is too limited, like a drop in the ocean, I still choose to hold back and persevere because I cannot forget that look. In fact, I am not alone in the battle, many people in basic scientific research, medicine, biology, engineering and technology are silently working hard to think and explore, promoting the continuous progress of science and technology, and with the gradual deepening of human understanding of life, psychology and disease, new drugs and methods of treatment continue to emerge, we need to continue to learn and update the concept, master the new technology and methods, humanistic application to We need to continue to learn and update our concepts, master new technologies and methods, and apply humanistic care to patients, so that human life can enjoy the fruits of technological progress while shining the light of humanity.
