Can depression be cured?

Depression can be cured. However, most patients can relapse several times, and those who have more than 3 episodes should be treated with long-term medication, or even take medication for life. Depression is the result of the interaction between one’s own biological factors and external environmental factors, often manifested as significant and persistent depressed mood, which seriously affects daily life, study, work and social activities. Patients with mild depression may experience symptoms such as sullenness, anxiety and irritability, and diminished interest; patients with severe depression may experience symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions, and even suicidal tendencies or behaviors. Regardless of whether the depression is mild or severe, the patient needs to cooperate and after standardized treatment, such as medication, psychotherapy and physical therapy, there is every hope that the depression can be completely cured. In conclusion, depression may recur when the patient is stimulated by a certain factor from outside, at which time he/she should go to the hospital to seek help from psychiatrists and psychologists, keep his/her mood relaxed and avoid being alone.
