I. Initial Consultation
The patient, a 39-year-old middle-aged male, reported that he suddenly felt bitterness in his mouth, tinnitus, dizziness, redness, short yellow urine and constipation without any obvious cause 3 days ago, and did not take any medication at home. After detailed questioning, we learned that the patient had been emotionally upset and depressed 3 days ago. The patient had not had the above symptoms before, nor did he have chronic diseases such as hyperlipidemia.
II. Treatment history
I informed the patient that the recent discomfort was caused by the persistent depression and emotional disorder 3 days ago, which made the fire in the liver too strong and caused the Qi and fire to go upward, and that he should use medicine and acupuncture to release blood to clear the fire in the liver and thus reduce the discomfort brought by the disease, and the patient agreed to take the above treatment measures. I put the patient on Gentian and Liver Pill as well as Angelica and Dragon Aloe Pill, both of which are effective in clearing the liver, stimulating the gallbladder, and dipping the fire, thereby improving the adverse symptoms such as bitterness in the mouth, tinnitus, and redness of the face and eyes induced by liver fire. In addition, acupuncture and bloodletting are performed on the patient’s Dadun, Xingma, Taichong, and Zhimen points, thus achieving the purpose of assisting in removing liver fire.
III. Treatment effect
On the second day of in-hospital treatment, the patient reported that the symptoms of bitterness in the mouth, tinnitus, redness of the face and eyes, dizziness, short yellow urine, and constipation were reduced, and his complexion and mental state were better, and no other adverse symptoms were observed. On the 7th day of in-hospital treatment, the symptoms of bitter mouth, tinnitus, red face and eyes, dizziness, short yellow urine and constipation disappeared, the pulse was flat, the tip of the tongue was red and the tongue coating was thin and white, the disease had been cured, and the patient was informed that he could be discharged.
IV. Precautions
As the patient’s symptoms such as bitterness in the mouth, tinnitus, redness of the face and eyes gradually disappeared and he was finally discharged, I was sincerely happy for the patient. At the time of discharge, I suggested that the patient should regulate his emotions reasonably and distract himself by drawing and exercising appropriately to help calm down his mood and prevent his condition from recurring due to persistent depression.
A good diet can help your health by minimizing the consumption of stimulating foods such as chili peppers and strong coffee. In addition, if you find any abnormalities in your body after discharge from the hospital, you should seek medical advice at any time.
V. Personal insight
You should keep your emotions stable in your daily life and avoid being in a state of excessive depression, irritability or boredom for a long time, otherwise it will have a negative impact on your liver. As in the case of the patient in this case, the prolonged emotional disorder and depression caused the liver to become hot and inflamed, which in turn induced adverse symptoms and affected her life to a certain extent. The treatment plan in this case is specific, so medical consultation is needed after the disease.
