Lung cancer has become the number one cancer threatening human health and survival. Surgery is the first choice for lung cancer treatment, but many lung cancers have lost the chance of surgery when diagnosed. With the aging of the population, elderly people who have lung cancer are often inoperable or unwilling to receive surgical treatment because of their poor physical condition and often combined with chronic diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and emphysema. Even the traditional intravenous chemotherapy and radiotherapy are not tolerated. This brings a lot of trouble to the treatment of lung cancer. Interventional technology has opened up a new way for lung cancer treatment. The direct infusion of chemotherapy drugs through the nutrient artery of lung cancer, together with embolization therapy, can directly apply the effective drugs to the tumor. And basically there is no systemic side effect. Modern medicine has proved that the nutrient artery of lung cancer comes from bronchial artery and partly combined from intercostal artery, internal thoracic artery, inferior phrenic artery and other body circulation arteries, and pulmonary artery is not involved in the nutrient blood supply of lung cancer. Therefore, interventionalists only need to intervene in lung cancer through the bronchial artery and other body circulation arteries, but not through the pulmonary artery. This is the theoretical basis of clinically proven effective arterial intervention for lung cancer.
