What are the dangers of thyroid tumors?

Thyroid adenoma is a common and frequent clinical disease, the majority of which are benign lesions and a few are cancerous. The etiology is unclear, and the pathological changes are thyroid follicular hyperplasia and thyroid tissue swelling, with a soft texture in benign cases and a hard texture in malignant cases. Generally, benign thyroid tumors are not harmful as long as patients receive timely treatment, but they can be more harmful if left untreated. What are the hazards of thyroid adenoma? 1. In the early stage of the disease, there are mostly symptoms of hyperthyroidism, such as panic, weight loss and weakness. 2. If not treated in time, as the tumor gradually increases, it will cause pressure on the tissues around the thyroid gland, which will commonly cause breathing difficulties, obstruction of swallowing, hoarseness, etc. Serious asphyxia may also occur. If benign thyroid tumor is not treated in time, it may become cancerous with the gradual development of the disease, which may bring great harm to patients’ health. When the following symptoms appear, the possibility of cancerous changes should be considered: rapid increase of tumor in the near future; limitation or fixation of tumor activity; hoarseness, breathing difficulty and other compression symptoms; hard and solid tumor with rough surface; enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. Is thyroid tumor serious? The incidence of thyroid tumor is not only high, its cancer rate is also not low. Even if most of them are benign tumors, if they are not treated, they will become more and more serious and even difficult to control at a later stage, which is also very harmful. The early treatment of thyroid tumors is not a big deal, but allowing them to develop is undoubtedly very dangerous. In most cases, thyroid tumors are benign and do not cause any special symptoms when the tumor is small, so they are less harmful. In addition, the cancer rate of benign thyroid tumors is as high as 10-20%. Although malignant thyroid tumors are rare, they do occur and can be life-threatening if not treated in a timely manner. In malignant cases, patients often feel pain in the neck, the tumor is irregular in shape, the border is not clear, and the mobility is poor. In severe cases, the tumor may invade other tissues and organs in the neck, and the patient may have difficulty in breathing and hoarseness of voice. People often have various misunderstandings about benign tumors, thinking that since they are benign, they are not too serious and do not need to worry too much, while others think that even benign tumors are very scary and need to be removed surgically. In this regard, we would like to remind you that benign tumors may become malignant, but it is not necessary to have surgery to treat them, and the decision should be based on the actual condition of the patient.
