Can a pregnant woman who is syphilis positive breastfeed after delivery?

The most important concern for pregnant women who are positive for syphilis, besides whether their baby is infected, is the issue related to breastfeeding. In general, if syphilis is adequately treated during pregnancy, breastfeeding after delivery is not a problem. At present, long-acting penicillin is an effective treatment for syphilis, and generally during pregnancy it is routine to treat one course of treatment each in the first 3 months of pregnancy and the second 3 months of pregnancy, so as long as there is adequate treatment during pregnancy, there is no problem in breastfeeding the baby after delivery.
