Descending colon disease pain is predominantly left-sided abdominal pain. The descending colon is located on the left side of the abdomen of the body and is part of the terminal colon, which helps to shape feces, so descending colon pain usually manifests as left-sided abdominal pain. Descending colon pain is usually caused by ulcerative colitis and constipation. When ulcerative colitis expands further, it affects the descending colon, causing pain in the left side of the abdomen. In case of constipation a large amount of feces builds up in the intestines, when the toxic substances in the feces irritate the descending colon, which causes pain in the left side of the abdomen. Descending colon pain generally goes for application of anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce inflammation and toxic irritation and relieve pain. In case of prolonged descending colon pain one should visit the hospital for colonoscopy.
