What is the cause of pain from the lower back to the thigh?

Low back to thigh pain may be caused by a lumbar disc herniation. Long-term bending labour, or prolonged sitting, standing or squatting, accumulation of strain leads to degeneration of the lumbar discs, causing lumbar disc herniation, which leads to lumbago and radiating pain in the lower limbs due to mechanical compression and inflammatory stimulation.
Investigation will reveal changes in the physiological curvature of the lumbar spine, pressure points in the spinous process and paravertebral muscles of the lumbar spine, positive straight leg raise test or femoral nerve pull test, and diagnosis can be aided by imaging.
