Focus on depressive disorders

The world’s top-selling drug is an antidepressant, a piece of information that indicates that there are many people suffering from depression. The concept of health refers to the physical and mental health of a person with major depression, which is similar to that of a person with paraplegia. In other words, although patients with major depressive disorder do not have physical disabilities, they are lazy and less talkative because of their psychological problems, so they do not want to do anything, and this state is no different from physical disabilities. Lv Shuyun said: according to the latest survey statistics of the World Health Organization, the global incidence of depression is 3.1%, while the developed countries is about 6%. Because of this disease, the annual loss of output worldwide amounts to 10%. The concept of health means that a person is free from both physical and mental illnesses. In life, many people have suffered from depression, but instead of finding ways to solve it, they tough it out on their own. One reason is that they do not realize that they have a psychological problem, but mistakenly believe that they have been in a bad mood for some time; the second reason is that they think it is humiliating to look at mental illness. Depression can lead to physical illnesses Depressed patients who keep “holding on” and do not seek ways to solve their psychological problems will not only affect the quality of life, but also lead to physical illnesses. For example, it can increase the chance of developing high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other diseases. Depression is caused by psychological stress, but not all stress can cause psychological problems. Lv Shuyun analysis: people need a certain amount of pressure, with pressure people will have the motivation to move forward. However, there are differences in the ability of each person to withstand stress. If a person’s ability to withstand stress reaches its peak, he or she will show the following emotions to the overload of stress: feeling meaningless, complaints, slackness, self-pity, loneliness, irritability, lack of concentration, suspicion, and also symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, panic, anorexia, gastrointestinal disorders, unexplained headaches and limb pain. These manifestations can eventually lead to depression where the person has no interest or ability to do anything. Depression is classified as mild, moderate, or severe. People with mild depression make up a relatively large percentage of the population. The reasons for the occurrence of depression are divided into genetic factors and psychosocial factors. For example, some people can’t bear even the smallest things; while some people are born with a strong ability to “resist stress”, which is a genetic factor. Psychosocial factors are related to the personal experience of events, including divorce, the death of a loved one, accidents at work, and so on. In addition, some people may experience unexplained depression, such as during adolescence or menopause. Some medications can also cause depression, such as hormones, anti-tuberculosis drugs, and anti-hypertensives. Some chronic diseases can also cause depression, such as heart attacks and brain attacks. There are many ways to release stress. Specialized advice: Mild depression can be released through self-regulation. For example, “interpersonal therapy”, that is, confiding in friends and relatives about the problems encountered. From the understanding and support of friends and relatives, you can feel that everyone is helping you to share the stress. You can also do “marriage therapy”, that is, to confide in your spouse the problems you encounter, so as to get each other’s understanding and comfort. Lv Shuyun also suggested that patients find their own happy, interesting things, such as sports, housework, etc., are the “good medicine” to disperse bad mood. Patients with severe depression should see a psychologist.
