How to treat liver cancer

Patients often ask, “Doctor, is my disease liver cancer, can it be treated, and how can it be treated better? Although liver cancer is highly malignant, it is not untreatable, and many patients still have good treatment results. Most of the liver cancers in China have the basis of hepatitis B infection and are more common in men. If you find a lump on the liver during checkup, you must pay attention to careful examination, and an intensive CT or MRI is enough to clarify it. When it comes to treatment, there are many treatment methods for liver cancer, surgical resection and liver transplantation are the best options. Other treatment options include interventional, radiofrequency, immunotherapy, targeted drugs, Chinese medicine, etc. Transplantation is strictly indicated. For transplantation, there are strict indications, the size of tumor should not exceed 5cm, or not exceed 3, and the diameter should not exceed 5cm; in our country, due to the limitation of donor, the operation is limited, in fact, liver transplantation for small liver cancer has the best effect. Next is surgical resection. For resectable lesions, patients with better liver function should undoubtedly be treated surgically, and with postoperative interventions, antiviral treatment, and traditional Chinese medicine, often patients can significantly extend their life span. For those with multiple metastatic lesions in the liver, or patients who are too weak for surgery, or those who are able to operate but do not have enough volume left in the liver, they can be treated by intervention with targeted drugs, and the effect is also okay. I personally have a number of patients who have survived long term after surgery, often those who are found to have smaller tumors on routine checkups. The actual hepatitis B is the most important thing that you can do.
