Thyroid nodules usually do not heal on their own and require treatment to return to normal. Most thyroid nodules are caused by a lack of iodine in the body, so they need to be supplemented with iodine in a timely manner, as there is no way for the body to fully recover from them alone. In addition, there are two types of thyroid nodules, benign and malignant, so the nature of the nodules must first be clarified. If it is a benign nodule, it can be reviewed regularly if it is small and will not be a major problem; if it is large and affects the aesthetics, or if there are symptoms of pressure, surgery can be considered, or radiofrequency ablation under ultrasound guidance can be considered. In case of malignant nodules, surgery is generally required and most of them have a better prognosis. Patients are advised to eat more iodine-containing foods and not to eat foods that stimulate the development of thyroid nodules.
