Strictly speaking, thyroid nodules are not exactly the same as great neck disease. Great neck disease is a diffuse enlargement of the thyroid gland caused by iodine deficiency in soil and water or food due to soil erosion in highlands or mountainous areas. However, the classification of thyroid nodules is relatively broader, because there is a distinction between benign and malignant thyroid nodules, but in the absence of malignancy, great neck disease is basically benign and caused by iodine deficiency. The causes of nodules are relatively numerous and the diagnosis needs to be more detailed, such as through ultrasonography and pathological biopsy in order to further characterize and clarify the treatment. In general, it can be summarized that thyroid nodules include macrosomia, but macrosomia does not represent the concept of thyroid nodules.
