Fall and winter are the seasons when mothers are most worried about their babies’ diarrhea. For young children aged 2 to 12 years old, mothers can better prevent diarrhea if they do this. (1) Give enough fluids to prevent dehydration. To encourage your baby to drink more water, drink oral rehydration salts prescribed by your doctor, dilute with 1000ml of warm boiled water and take it anytime. You can also make your own sugar and salt water, the specific preparation method is: 500ml of boiling water with two small spoons of sugar and half a beer cap salt, or 500ml of rice soup with half a beer cap salt. Both liquids, should be taken in small amounts several times, so as not to vomit and affect the effectiveness of the treatment. (2) Add easy-to-digest complementary foods to your baby. When adding complementary foods in autumn, we must pay attention to start with a small amount and add only one kind each time to make the baby’s digestive tract have an adaptation process. In addition, you should start with semi-liquid food and gradually transition to solid food, otherwise it will easily lead to diarrhea. Fresh food should be used when making complementary foods for babies, and do not give them leftover food. During the period of diarrhea, babies should avoid eating raw, cold and greasy foods, such as melons and fruits, drinks and fried foods; it is advisable to choose light and easily digestible foods, such as rice soup, vegetable soup, rice porridge and lactose-free milk, etc. (3) Pay attention to taking good care of the baby’s buttocks. After a baby has diarrhea, the skin around the anus will become red, and in serious cases, it will be locally broken and inflamed. Therefore, change the diapers regularly and wash the buttocks with warm water after each stool to prevent urinary tract infection and hip infection. Avoid wiping hard with paper towels or wet cloths to avoid local skin damage. If your baby’s buttocks are already red, you should apply some tannic acid ointment after cleaning. (4) Parents should not chew rice for their babies. Never chew rice for your baby, which may lead to diarrhea in infants. Some parents are afraid of burning their children and like to test the temperature with the tip of their tongue, which is a bad habit. Other mothers like to peck the pacifier and taste the temperature of the milk, which is even worse. Normal bacteria in the adult’s mouth may be pathogenic to the baby. (5) Don’t touch other babies with diarrhea. Take your baby less often to medical places where sick children are concentrated, go less often to public places, and try not to touch babies with diarrhea. (6) Learn to observe the signs of dehydration in your baby. If your baby has obvious dryness of mouth and lips, skin, or even reduced urine output; wrinkles around the eyes, a feeling of collapse of the eyes, few tears, and no energy, you may have symptoms of dehydration, and you should increase fluid supplementation in time. If the baby’s diarrhea is accompanied by vomiting, resulting in ineffective fluid supplementation, it is necessary to promptly go to the hospital for infusion treatment.
