Argon Helium Knife Cryosurgery for Prostate Cancer The CRYOCARE Argon Helium Knife Cryosurgery System is a medical device for minimally invasive ultra-low temperature cryoablation of tumors. It is the result of the application of aerospace guidance technology, the cold isolation technology of argon, to the medical field. It is clinically proven that argon-helium targeted therapy technology can effectively treat solid tumors such as prostate cancer, kidney cancer, lung cancer and liver cancer. Prostate cancer cryotherapy with argon helium knife is performed by inserting 2-8 cryotherapy superconducting knives into the prostate through perineal puncture under the guidance of rectal ultrasound, and placing temperature probes in the prostate tip, around the urethra and in the anterior rectal space, turning on the argon helium knife cryosurgery system to make the temperature of the operation site drop sharply to about -160 degrees, freezing for 10-15 minutes, and then re-tempering rapidly to about 20 degrees for two cycles. The procedure is performed in two cycles to kill the prostate cancer cells through ultra-low temperature and re-temperature. Prostate cancer cryotherapy with Ar-He knife not only can achieve the effect of radical cure, but also can be performed with little trauma, no bleeding, only local anesthesia is needed, and patients can recover quickly after surgery with little impact on their quality of life. At present, the main indications are: 1. Radical cryotherapy: applicable to low-risk prostate cancer with prostate volume less than 40ml; 2. Palliative cryotherapy: applicable to the palliative treatment of metastatic prostate cancer, which can prolong patients’ survival and improve their quality of life; 3. Salvage cryotherapy: applicable to the salvage treatment of local recurrence of prostate cancer after radical surgery or radiation therapy.
