The chance of getting cervical cancer with a smooth cervix is low. Generally, women with a smooth cervix have no obvious inflammatory changes on the surface of the cervix. However, it is not correct to rely on the doctor’s visual observation that a smooth cervix does not have cervical cancer. There are endogenous and exogenous types of cervical cancer, especially the endogenous type of cervical cancer is usually found in the cervical canal, which cannot be seen clearly by the naked eye. To diagnose cervical cancer, TCT and colposcopic biopsy of the cervix are required to confirm the diagnosis. It is advisable for women with normal sex life to have annual TCT of the cervix for screening of cervical cancer. There is a process of cervical cancer, which generally involves a gradual transition from inflammation to atypical hyperplasia to carcinoma in situ, over a period of years to decades.
