What is osteoporosis? How to prevent and treat it?

It is strange to say that the 60 year old moncler Liu was hospitalized for a fracture, he did not fall, two did not encounter a collision, but only early in the morning when dressed to get up suddenly felt lumbar pain, can not get up, to the hospital to take pictures to know is a lumbar fracture, sounds a bit strange, in fact, early morning dressing is only the cause, the most fundamental cause of the fracture of the oldest is that he has suffered from serious osteoporosis. Because of the slow development of this disease and the lack of clinical special performance, it is easy to be ignored, at present, with the improvement of people’s living standards and the development trend of the aging population. Studies have shown that the incidence of osteoporosis has jumped to the seventh place of various common diseases, 90% of women and 66% of men in the elderly suffer from this disease, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis has become a common concern. So, what is osteoporosis? How to prevent and treat it? Osteoporosis (OP) is a systemic and systemic skeletal disease characterized by reduced bone mass and destruction of the microstructure of bone tissue, resulting in increased bone fragility and increased risk of fracture. This is the most serious consequence of osteoporosis and is commonly seen clinically in the hip, thoracolumbar spine, distal radius and ulna, and proximal humerus, which are rich in cancellous bone. In clinical diagnosis, osteoporosis is diagnosed if a fragility fracture and/or low bone mineral density (BMD) has occurred. However, there is no effective way to restore normal bone mass in patients who have already lost significant bone mass. The treatment of osteoporosis can be summarized into the following two aspects: a. General treatment: a reasonable diet, which can be divided into the following aspects: ① supply sufficient protein; ② pay attention to the cooking method, reduce the content of oxalic acid in food and improve the activity of plant enzymes can help the absorption of calcium; ③ restrict the diet; ④ supplement the right amount of calcium, do not blindly supplement vitamin A, D pills, taking excessive amounts may lead to poisoning It must be taken under the guidance of a doctor, and it is recommended to take 250g of milk daily, which means 250mg of calcium supplement. At the same time, avoid a sedentary lifestyle, actively engage in physical exercise to increase muscle strength and body coordination, ensure adequate sunlight exposure, avoid smoking, alcoholism and other bad habits, discontinue or use less drugs that affect bone health, and pay attention to avoid wrestling and external impact. Second, drug treatment: clinical can be divided into three categories: one is anti-bone resorption drugs such as bisphosphonates, calcitonin, SERMs, estrogen, etc.; the second is to promote bone formation drugs, such as PTH (parathyroid hormone); the third is Chinese medicine treatment, Chinese medicine treatment of osteoporosis has obvious potential and advantages. Chinese medicine classifies OP as “bone fistula, bone dryness, bone paralysis” and considers its pathogenesis as kidney deficiency and spleen deficiency, so the treatment method of tonifying the kidney and strengthening the bone, benefiting the qi and strengthening the spleen is used to address the pathogenesis. Even so, there is no effective method to restore normal bone mass in patients who have already lost serious bone mass. Therefore, prevention of osteoporosis becomes particularly important. First of all, prevention of osteoporosis should begin in childhood, when adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D and balanced nutrition, as well as participation in moderate physical work will greatly benefit the acquisition of optimal peak bone mass. Secondly, reasonable nutrition is the basis for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. When the calcium content in the diet cannot meet the body’s needs, taking calcium supplements and adding the right amount of vitamin D are better choices. Again, keep away from osteoporosis in exercise. Clinical data show that the long-term bedridden elderly, despite the supplementation of calcium and vitamin D, but their osteoporosis developed as usual; astronauts’ diet is not deficient in calcium, but when weightless in space, BMD declines, and takes a longer time to recover when returning to Earth. Therefore, calcium supplementation and participation in moderate weight-bearing exercise is the most effective way to prevent osteoporosis. Middle-aged and elderly people should participate in more physical exercise, such as jogging, cycling, climbing, etc. Elderly people who are bedridden for a long time should also leave the bed for one hour every day, so that the bone tissue can reduce the weight-bearing load of weight, which is good for postponing osteoporosis. In addition, leave the office regularly for a drive, more sunshine, these are more than beneficial. Recognize osteoporosis and face it with care and cooperation between doctors and patients in order to win the victory against osteoporosis, the silent epidemic.
