It is normal for normal preschool children to have 4~5 colds per year, but some children have colds almost every month or have pneumonia several times, and such children should be considered to have recurrent respiratory infections. The standard set by our country is that preschool children who suffer from upper respiratory infections 6 times a year and lower respiratory infections 2 times a year can be diagnosed with recurrent respiratory infections. This disease is more harmful to the child’s body, with multiple episodes, respiratory mucosa destruction, repair scarring, and often lesions develop into irreversible chronic pharyngitis, chronic tonsillitis, chronic sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, and even bronchiectasis. Chronic lesions can also spread when resistance is reduced, causing sepsis, meningitis, osteomyelitis, or inducing nephritis, rheumatism, etc. Repeated infections can cause malnutrition in children, coupled with long-term use of antibiotics or other drugs, children’s appetite is very poor, nutrition is not adequately supplied, long-term consumption and protein is in negative balance, weight loss, growth retardation. The most direct cause of recurrent respiratory tract infections is caused by a decrease in body resistance, and recurrent infections damage the immune system of children, causing secondary immune deficiency, a vicious circle between infection and immune deficiency, difficult to cure. Treatment should first identify the causes of recurrent respiratory tract infections, such as malnutrition, improper care, and recovery from serious illness, and most importantly, immune function tests should be performed to exclude recurrent infections caused by congenital immunodeficiency diseases. Medication should be based on the condition or history of previous medication, the correct choice of antibiotics, generally for 3 days in a row, such as the condition is not good, before considering a change of medication, avoid frequent changes in medication, and not therapeutic effect, but to produce resistance, the course of treatment 7 to 10 days. For those with chronic lesions, such as purulent tonsillitis or sinusitis, tonsil removal or sinus surgery can be considered. Treatment can also be used to increase resistance to drugs, the general course of treatment needs to be more than 2 months. Strengthen outdoor activities, increase the ability to adapt to the external environment and climate change, strengthen care, scientific deployment of diet.
