End-stage liver disease is a pathological state in which liver function is extremely diminished or even failed due to various causes (including hepatitis virus, alcohol, drugs, immunity, genetic metabolism, etc.). It is a disease with high morbidity and mortality. At present, liver transplantation is the only effective treatment for end-stage liver disease, but due to high cost, scarce liver sources, and lifelong immunosuppressive drugs after transplantation, it imposes a heavy financial and psychological burden on patients. Because of the advantages of easy collection, low pain, repeated collection, easy transplantation, and no immunosuppression, there have been many successful reports of using autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation to treat end-stage liver disease at home and abroad, which has shown great potential for clinical application in delaying liver failure and improving patients’ quality of life. Our hospital has carried out more in-depth basic research on peripheral blood stem cell transplantation for the treatment of end-stage liver disease, and has achieved certain research results. Meanwhile, our hospital is a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation hospital in Liaoning Province, and has many years of mature experience in the clinical application of stem cell transplantation. With the support of Liaoning Provincial Department of Health and Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, relying on research institutions such as the Sino-British Center for Applied Research in Regenerative Medicine and departments such as Infection, Interventional Medicine and Radiology, a research team consisting of several experts and professors is dedicated to applying autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation for end-stage liver disease in clinical practice. The main steps of autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation for end-stage liver disease include stem cell mobilization, peripheral blood stem cell collection and interventional stem cell transplantation. Autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation for end-stage liver disease is a new technology and method, and our hospital has been approved by Liaoning Provincial Health Department and adopted by the committee.
