Infertility is defined as a couple living together for a certain period of time and having regular sexual intercourse without any contraceptive measures, and not obtaining a pregnancy, and the World Health Organization (WHO) defines the period for diagnosing infertility as 12 months. In the past, due to the relatively backward development of science and the relatively low level of understanding of natural science, the society tended to blame the female partner exclusively for infertility, which in fact does not correspond to the objective situation. With the development of science, people gradually realized that nearly half of infertility is caused by male factors. Male infertility is defined as infertility caused by male factors or concurrently with female factors. In a broad sense, male infertility includes two types of cases: one is that the male partner cannot conceive the female partner due to male factors, and the other is that although the female partner can conceive, the embryo after conception cannot develop into a normal fetus due to sperm quality problems and dies in the middle. In recent years, WHO only defines male infertility as the inability to conceive a woman within a limited period of time, regardless of the outcome of conception. Studies have shown that about 40% to 45% of infertility couples are caused by the female partner, 25% to 40% by the male partner, 15% to 20% by both partners, and 10% to 15% by unknown causes. Therefore, both couples with infertility should go to a regular hospital for serious examination to find out the cause to determine whether it is caused by both partners or by one of them, and never subjectively think that infertility is caused by one partner. It is important to pay special attention to the frequency of sexual life to diagnose infertility. Some people are separated for a long time due to work, or the couple is not in a relationship, and the number of sexual intercourse is low, which can lead to infertility of the female partner, however, the resulting non-pregnancy cannot be judged as male infertility.
