What to expect after minimally invasive liver surgery

As the saying goes, “three parts treatment and seven parts nourishment”, when liver disease patients complete the surgery and successfully discharged from the hospital, there are still many details that need attention in daily life and eating habits, here are some common enough matters: 1, a lot of tonic is not scientific. After liver surgery, some patients tend to eat too much nutrition or some advanced tonic in order to recover their strength as soon as possible, but this is actually very unscientific, because these substances are not easily absorbed and decomposed by the liver, and too much of them will become a burden on the liver, which is not conducive to recovery. It is very important to quit smoking and drinking after liver surgery. The main component of alcohol is ethanol, which can be converted into acetaldehyde in the liver, and they have a direct damaging effect on the liver, causing degeneration and necrosis of liver cells; 3. After liver surgery need to pay attention to rest, daily rest and rest time should be fixed, to ensure sufficient sleep, do not stay up late. To carry out light exercise, such as walking, etc. Also pay attention to self-regulation, nourish the mind and cultivate sex. Do not be too tired, overexertion will cause nutrient and oxygen depletion, resulting in reduced energy supply to the liver and weakening the liver’s ability to resist disease; 4. Precautions for surgical incision. The advantage of minimally invasive laparoscopic liver surgery lies in the tiny incision and fast postoperative recovery. The stitch removal time is usually 7 days after surgery. Some patients have been discharged less than 7 days after surgery. After going home, the wound should be kept clean and dry, generally without changing the medication midway to 7 days after surgery to return to the ward to remove the stitches, of course, for convenience, can also be removed at home near the clinic. The incision that has been removed has been covered with gauze for about 3 days, when the time to remove the gauze can be rinsed in the shower. It is normal for the wound to itch, but if there is obvious redness, swelling and water flow, it is necessary to go to the hospital for consultation; 5. For patients with liver cysts, gallbladder resection or hepatic hemangioma resection, the follow-up interval can be longer, generally once every 3 months; while for patients with liver tumor resection, close follow-up is needed, generally once a month for the first 6 months, to keep in touch with the doctor in order to arrange the next treatment plan.
