Common misconceptions about osteoporosis awareness

Osteoporosis is one of the common orthopedic diseases in the elderly. With the improvement of people’s health awareness, osteoporosis is also gradually paid attention to, but there are still some misconceptions in its prevention and treatment. Myth 1: Drinking bone broth can prevent osteoporosis. People often drink bone broth to prevent osteoporosis, but experiments have shown that the calcium content of the same bowl of milk is much higher than a bowl of bone broth. And for the elderly, bone broth dissolves a lot of fat in the bone, often consumed may cause other health problems. Myth 2: Treatment of osteoporosis is equal to calcium supplementation. Osteoporosis is caused by abnormal bone metabolism, so its treatment is not just calcium supplementation, but comprehensive treatment to improve bone mass, enhance bone strength and prevent fractures. Myth 3: Osteoporosis is a phenomenon unique to the elderly and has nothing to do with young people. In fact, osteoporosis is not the “patent” of the elderly, if the young neglect exercise, do not sunbathe, often picky or diet, unbalanced diet structure, etc., can lead to a reduction in the intake of calcium in the diet, so that the ideal amount and quality of bone peak can not be achieved, it will give osteoporosis the opportunity to take advantage of. Myth 4: It’s too late to treat osteoporosis in the elderly. Many elderly people believe that osteoporosis is an irreversible disease and that treatment is no longer effective in old age, so they give up treatment. In fact, from the point of view of treatment, the earlier the osteoporosis treatment, the better the effect.
