Liver cancer treatment strategy – combined treatment is effective

As a common saying goes, “A foot is short and an inch is long. Interventional therapy and radiofrequency ablation therapy each have their own strengths, and numerous studies and treatment guidelines at home and abroad have clearly pointed out that the combination of the two is better than any one treatment alone. The advantage of interventional therapy is that hepatic arteriography can give a full overview of the liver to understand whether there are more lesions and discover tumor nodules that are not detected by other examinations, so as to avoid missing them. More importantly, interventional treatment is minimally invasive, with little or no damage to the patient, and has a relatively wide range of indications. The introduction of this treatment method has provided treatment opportunities for inoperable patients and saved a large number of liver cancer patients, which is a revolutionary and leap forward in the history of liver cancer treatment, but it also has its drawbacks, the killing of tumor margins is not complete, and most patients cannot achieve the effect of radical cure. Radiofrequency/microwave ablation therapy under ultrasound and CT guidance is also minimally invasive treatment, which can achieve complete inactivation and radical cure for liver cancer with diameter less than 5 cm, especially for single nodules and tumors with envelope, and can kill part or most of large tumors to reduce tumor load, but it is limited or even missed for multi-nodules, large tumors and those near important structures. Therefore, we generally advocate interventional treatment to clarify the disease first, and if it meets the requirements of radiofrequency ablation, the combined implementation of ablation treatment can completely destroy the tumor area to achieve better treatment effect. Regular review after treatment, good mental and psychological state, scientific lifestyle, positive energy from family and society, good self-experience and positive feedback from helping others are all indispensable and important factors.
