Typical symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis are worsening of diabetic symptoms such as polyuria, irritable thirst, polydipsia and malaise, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, drowsiness, deep and fast breathing, rotten apple smell in the expiratory breath, dry skin, decreased urine output, etc. In severe cases, coma may occur, and some patients may be complicated with cerebral edema, hypokalemia, hypovolemic shock and other diseases.
Mild diabetic ketoacidosis: it can be manifested as polydrinking, polyuria, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and other symptoms;
Moderate diabetic ketoacidosis: the appearance of deep and rapid acidosis respiration, exhaled breath can be smelled ketone flavor, that is, similar to the smell of rotten apples.
Severe diabetic ketoacidosis: oliguria, anuria, and may appear apathetic, all kinds of shallow and deep reflexes retarded or disappeared, or even coma. Severe acidosis patients respiratory inhibition, can be life-threatening.
In some patients, severe ketoacidosis leads to severe water loss and electrolyte disorders, reduced blood volume and microcirculation disorders, resulting in symptoms such as abdominal pain, dyspnea, rapid heartbeat, weak pulse and cold extremities.
For diabetic patients, if the above symptoms occur, it is considered to be caused by diabetic ketoacidosis, which requires timely medical examination.
