How long can you live with major depression?

Patients with major depression usually do not directly affect their life expectancy and can survive for a long time as long as they do not do something radical to harm themselves. Depression is a particularly common mental illness in today’s rapidly developing society. People with depression are often depressed, uninterested in anything and do not like to communicate with others. In general, patients with mild depression can recover better with medication. Patients with major depression are more difficult to treat and even need to take medication for life, and even then some patients will not be able to fully remit. And the circumstances that lead to death in patients with major depression are often not due to depression per se, but to suicide or accidents. Therefore, patients with major depression should always take their medication under the guidance of a psychiatrist. It is recommended that family members provide care and companionship to provide psychological support to the patient to avoid thoughts of lightness of life.
