Hepatic coma in liver cancer patients is a serious condition, and if it occurs, the patient’s survival period may be very short. The cause of hepatic coma is mainly due to the impaired liver function, which leads to the increase of blood ammonia level in the body and thus the development of hepatic encephalopathy. Appropriate symptomatic treatment can be given to lower the blood ammonia, while the intake of protein food should be strictly limited, and nutritional drugs to reduce brain cell edema can be given. Glucose, amino acids, water, electrolytes and vitamins can be given intravenously to improve the general nutritional status of the patient.
