“Depressed brother” hiding in the hospital “to avoid the year”

Yesterday, the reporter learned from the WUST affiliated Tianyou Hospital, nearly a month to ask to open the “Valium” patients than usual doubled, “New Year’s syndrome” citizens accounted for nearly half of the outpatient clinic. Mr. Zhang, who lives near Dingzhiqiao in Wuchang, suffered from depression due to business failure a few years ago. After recovering from treatment, in 2007, he found a job as a sales manager. In September last year, the leadership set a high sales task for Mr. Zhang, and promised that as long as the end of the year to complete, the year-end bonus is certainly generous, but at the same time reminded “if you can not complete, I am afraid that career prospects are limited. But by the end of December last year, Mr. Zhang still had several tens of thousands of yuan of unfinished tasks. He was so restless that he couldn’t sleep well at night. From two weeks ago, he did not want to go to work, avoiding any opportunity to meet with colleagues and supervisors; finally, he did not even want to go home, feeling “ashamed to face my wife and children. The day before yesterday, Mr. Zhang came to the psychiatric department of WUST’s Tianyou Hospital, hoping for “immediate inpatient treatment. The director of the department, Hu Yiwen, after careful consultation, Mr. Zhang is believed to be a relapse of depression. After medication and psychological counseling, Mr. Zhang’s agitation was relieved. It is understood that since December, the number of people consulting psychological problems to Tianyou Hospital has increased significantly; the number of patients requesting Valium because they are too stressed to sleep has more than doubled than usual. Hu Yiwen explained, “New Year’s syndrome” is not a “disease”, the end of the year, more chores, more inspection and assessment, increased psychological pressure on the public, prone to a variety of negative emotions, more likely to amplify this emotion. But such “patients” as long as the holidays, and then through self-regulation, more than 95% can be restored to a normal state of mind, do not worry too much.
