Hyperthyroidism patients often combined with liver damage, the incidence of which can be as high as about 1/3, there are different perceptions of whether iodine-131 is suitable for the treatment of patients with hyperthyroidism combined with liver damage. Some scholars believe that iodine-131 is not suitable for treatment of hyperthyroidism combined with severe liver damage, and they worry that iodine-131 will aggravate liver damage. However, some scholars believe that hyperthyroidism combined with hepatitis is not a contraindication to iodine-131 treatment, and that hyperthyroidism combined with liver damage is still worthy of consideration for treatment with iodine-131 even in those with more severe liver damage.
