How to determine whether a sprained instep is a soft tissue injury or a fracture

If you have a sprained instep, you can determine whether it is a soft tissue injury or a fracture by the following methods: First, judging from the clinical symptoms, most soft tissue injuries will only have local swelling, pain, bruising, and limited activity, and the patient can still insist on walking and weight bearing. Fracture will lead to local deformity, abnormal activities, passive activities can be heard bone rubbing sound and touching bone rubbing sensation. Secondly, x-rays can be taken to directly determine whether the local injury is a fracture or a soft tissue injury. If a fracture exists, there will be discontinuity and interruption of the bone cortex. If it is only a soft tissue injury, the X-ray will not show the interruption of the bone cortex. Through the above two methods, you can accurately determine whether the back of the foot sprain is a fracture, or soft tissue injury.
