Healthy sex can change a family’s set lifestyle. Medical experts have found through long-term scientific studies and clinical trials that sex has a tremendous boost to physical health. A long-term study by the New England Institute in Massachusetts showed that having sex twice a week is good for the heart health of middle-aged and older men, cutting their chances of heart disease in half. The study is known to have taken 16 years and involved more than 1,000 men aged 40-70. Before the study began, the men interviewed underwent a comprehensive physical examination to record whether they had any signs of heart disease. They were then asked to record how often they had sex each week. The results showed that those who had sex at least twice a week had a 45 percent lower chance of heart disease than those who had sex once a month or more. The researchers said that enjoying sex regularly helps men reduce stress, gain social support, and benefit both physically and mentally. They also suggest that clinicians should consider age, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol indicators, in addition to how sexually active a patient is, when assessing the risk of heart disease in middle-aged and older men. However, this study was not conducted on women, so there is no way to know if sex is good for women’s hearts. In addition, sex can be good for men’s prostates. The National Cancer Institute found that men who ejaculate five times a week have a significantly reduced risk of prostate cancer. Wilkes University of Pennsylvania also found that having sex once or twice a week in the winter boosted immunity and reduced the risk of all types of colds.
