Are swollen lymph nodes in the armpit necessarily related to “breast cancer”? We often encounter such patients in the clinic, “Doctor, please help me to see if I have “breast cancer” because my lymph nodes are enlarged. After careful examination, there is no obvious lump, no lymph nodes in the axilla, and no palpable lymph nodes. This has happened many times, time and time again, with explanations and helplessness. Some patients even said with certainty that they had checked the Internet and the enlarged lymph nodes in the armpits meant that there was something wrong with the breast. If you have breast cancer, your axillary lymph nodes may be enlarged. Conversely, does finding enlarged axillary lymph nodes necessarily mean that there is a problem with the breast? Lymph nodes are the normal immune organs of the human body and are the defenders of the human body. Normally the lymph nodes on the surface of the body are not palpable. They may increase in size in case of inflammation, tumor, trauma or diseases of the lymphatic and blood system and rheumatic immune diseases. Therefore, swollen lymph nodes in the armpit do not necessarily mean that you have breast cancer. Of course, the enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit, especially if they are abnormally large and the normal lymph node structure disappears, should be taken seriously. It is true that there is a “hidden cancer” in the breast, where there is no obvious lump in the breast, but the first manifestation is cancerous metastasis in the axillary lymph nodes. Therefore, there is no need to panic about the lymph nodes with normal structure found in the ultrasound examination, because they are normal organs of our body. This condition does not require medication, much less surgery.
