Can syphilitic meningitis be cured?

Syphilitic meningitis is potentially curable. Syphilitic meningitis is a manifestation of neurosyphilis, mainly involving the meninges, and patients can present with headaches, meningeal irritation signs (+), and cerebrospinal fluid tests will show spirochete antibodies to syphilis (+). Most syphilis spirochetes are sensitive to penicillin and can improve with active treatment and monitoring, but the prognosis of syphilitic meningitis is also related to the specific type of syphilis. Some patients may be completely cured with treatment, while others may stop progressing with improved symptoms but have a tendency to relapse. In some patients, the disease may progress and worsen even after treatment. Therefore, once a patient is diagnosed with neurosyphilis, he or she must go to a regular hospital for active treatment and follow-up, and the course of treatment should be extended if necessary.
