Clinical staging of gout

Gout is a lifelong disease. If left untreated, as the disease gradually worsens, it will progress from no symptoms to the appearance of arthritic symptoms, and then further to the decline of kidney function, going through four stages: hyperuricemia stage, early gout stage, middle gout stage, and late gout stage. The stages of gout represent the stage of the disease, indicate the severity of the disease, and serve as a means for physicians to evaluate the disease and observe the efficacy of treatment for gout patients. The following are the specific stages of gout, according to which gout patients can make an assessment of their condition, see what stage they are in the development of gout, and how they should cooperate with physicians to actively treat it. 1, hyperuricemia stage: this stage of the patient is only elevated blood uric acid, only call it the first stage of gout, if at this time pay attention to diet, reasonable exercise, avoid overexertion, the patient may be stable in this stage for a long time, delay the first gouty arthritis appear, or even lifelong. 2, early gout: at this stage, in addition to the elevated blood uric acid seen in laboratory tests, there will be the typical symptoms of gout, acute arthritis attacks, but the arthritis attacks generally do not leave any sequelae. After the first attack, gouty arthritis can often recur with acute attacks that gradually resolve after a few days. Because this stage in the natural course of gout is generally shorter than the first attack of gouty arthritis, it is less severe than the last two stages and is not accompanied by kidney disease. If patients actively cooperate with physicians to receive treatment to reduce uric acid and prevent gouty arthritis is possible. 3, gout in the middle stage: gouty arthritis recurrent attacks, long-term inflammatory response caused by varying degrees of joint bone destruction and mobility disorders. Gout patients at this stage are heavier, the range of joint movement is restricted, the amount of activity is also reduced, the patient’s physical condition is getting worse, which in turn is more likely to cause gout attacks, forming a vicious circle. At this stage, in addition to active treatment, if you can move properly, you can take a walk, walk around the park, participate in some activities within your ability, and protect the function of the joints is an important task for patients with gout in the middle stage. 4.Late stage of gout: This stage is the most serious development of gout, often due to the lack of formal treatment or limited medical conditions. At this stage, the patient’s joint deformation and dysfunction have become very obvious, the number of gout stones is large, the volume is large, the kidney function is obviously reduced, and the overall condition of the patient is poor. Treatment is much more difficult than in the early stage, but active treatment can likewise carry the disease for a longer period of time.
