What is prostate sarcoma?

  Prostate sarcoma is a primary malignant tumor that occurs in the prostate gland and is the second most prevalent malignant tumor of the prostate, after prostate cancer. Prostate sarcoma occurs mainly in the prostate mesenchyme. Sarcomas account for 0.1% of prostate malignancies and come from the mesoderm, which can form different tumors through different differentiation.  The common ones are rhabdomyosarcoma, smooth muscle sarcoma, fibrosarcoma, in addition to lymphosarcoma, mucosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma and so on. Most of the patients are seen in young and middle-aged people, and most of them visit the doctor because of difficulty in defecation or urgency, and the enlarged prostate can be palpated on rectal examination.
