Sutra treatment of spleen and stomach disease with affective disorder

The gastrointestinal tract is a very emotionally rich organ. Many people are plagued by chronic spleen and stomach diseases, especially chronic gastritis, colitis and other diseases that can easily be delayed and repeated, and over the course of the disease, mental disorders such as anxiety and depression appear. These bad emotions often make it difficult to control and amplify the physical symptoms, and the chronic discomfort of the gastrointestinal tract is a continuous bad stimulus to the patient’s spirit, so that it creates a great burden for people. Chinese herbal medicine has great advantages in the management of chronic spleen and stomach diseases, and sutra, with its concise and practical efficiency, has become the representative of them. The common types are listed below according to the classification of etiology: Solid evidence: Phlegm evidence: people with phlegm evidence mostly have a hemiphlegmatic constitution. “Strange disease with more phlegm”, such patients often complain of very much or strange, but no obvious positive signs, objective physical and chemical examination also did not see obvious abnormalities, many seek medical advice and ineffective. Generally speaking, patients with good nutritional status, double eyelids, oily skin, or slightly puffy, and fat are common. Usually emotionally unstable, sensitive to external stimuli, with large emotional ups and downs. The patient is prone to nausea and vomiting, foreign body sensation in the throat, phlegm, abdominal distension, insomnia, easily disturbed, paranoia, etc. The pulse is slippery and the tongue coating is thick. According to the concomitant symptoms, the main treatment options are: Hanxia Houpu Tang, Wenzhi Tang, Xiao Hanxia plus Fu Ling Tang, etc. A young male patient complained of light mouth, tasteless diet, often feeling uninterested in life, depression, abdominal distension, morning nausea, gastroscopy showed chronic gastritis, long-term use of PPI, Xiang Sha Yang Gastric Pill and other ineffective. He was considered to have a phlegm-damp and semi-hyperalgesic constitution, and was given warm gall bladder soup plus ping gastric san, with heavy use of semi-hyperalgesic, thick park and atractylodes, and the symptoms subsided with ten doses. Qi evidence: Qi witnesses have surplus liver qi and are mainly of Chai Hu constitution. Such patients are physically and emotionally sensitive. The body type is medium or thin, yellow or green, muscles are not loose, complaints are numerous and mixed, appetite is poor, and is greatly affected by emotions, often with abdominal distension, belching and other gastrointestinal symptoms, irritability, irritability, dry mouth, dysmenorrhea or menstrual irregularities in women. Mostly afraid of heat or sensitive to heat and cold. From actual to deficiency, Da Chai Hu Tang – Chai Hu Dredging Liver San – Chai Hu Plus Long Bone Oyster Soup – Chai Hu Gui Zhi Dry Ginger Soup are often used respectively. A middle-aged woman complained of abdominal distension with heartburn and belching. Gastroscopy showed erosive gastritis with bile reflux. The patient was physically strong, had bad taste in the mouth, dry and bitter mouth, dry and dilute stools, irritability, suspiciousness, erratic mood and other mental manifestations, and the condition was relieved after treatment with acid suppression and gastric protection against HP, but there was recurrence. Stasis evidence: prolonged illness is bound to stasis, and where the stasis is caused, one of the qi and blood does not work, the tendons and veins are not nourished, and the other is stagnation of qi and blood, which is painful if not passed. Reflected in spleen and stomach diseases, such patients have long duration of illness and have both actual evidence, such as fixed pain in the stomach, liver, abdominal pain, vague stabbing pain, light day and heavy night, and deficiency evidence, such as insomnia, forgetfulness, irritability and other manifestations of loss of nourishment of mind and spirit. Most of the clinical cases are based on Wang Qingren’s Wu Shou Ban Yu Tang, Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan, and Peach Kernel Cheng Qi Tang. However, the combination must be combined with the treatment of strengthening the spleen, resolving dampness and warming the middle in order to adapt to the diagnosis and treatment of spleen and stomach diseases. An elderly female, complaining of lower left abdominal cramps, diarrhea for several months, external diagnosis of enteritis, taking antibiotics, probiotics, anti-diarrheal drugs such as strengthening the spleen is ineffective, detailed examination, her face sallow, dry skin cracking, insomnia, irritability, self-conscious night fever uncomfortable, small abdominal pain, first to dredge the liver and strengthen the spleen to stop diarrhea, the symptoms remain, and then change the formula Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan plus ginseng, Wu medicine and healed. Deficiency evidence: Yang Qi deficiency: Yang deficiency is more static. Clinically, we can see some patients with recurrent upper peptic ulcer, habitual constipation or chronic intestinal inflammation, poor nutritional status, thin body, white or dull skin, or abdominal pain or diarrhea, symptoms can be controlled by drugs, but relapse after discontinuation of drugs, the patient’s mental state is poor, depression, reticence, negative attitude towards life, often exaggerating the severity of their illness, and poor, weakness, cold and other signs of deficiency. The lighter ones can be given Jianzhong Tang class, the heavier ones must use Gui with hemp. I have treated a young woman, soon after giving birth appeared serious postpartum depression and constipation, fear of cold heavy, the whole summer can not enter the air-conditioned room, people white and thin, poor fatigue, few words, first considered postpartum blood deficiency constipation, to nourish the blood and laxative, the effect is not obvious, then add four reverse soup and ephedra, depression and constipation symptoms have been significantly improved. Yin and blood deficiency: those with Yin deficiency are more annoyed. Their digestive system symptoms are various, such as poor appetite, easy hunger and noisy, or vague pain in the stomach and epigastric region, or discomfort in the liver area, or constipation, while their mental system manifestations are mostly heartburn, insomnia, and dreaminess. Such patients should focus on the tongue, which must be red, regardless of the tongue coating, with a thin pulse, such as slippery and solid, then it is phlegm-heat. Huang Lian Agaricus Tang and Sour Jujube Soup are mostly used clinically. There was an old gentleman after intestinal cancer surgery, who was white and thin, complaining of poor appetite and insomnia. He wanted to use Gui Zhi plus Ginseng Tang combined with Dioscorea Pill, but when he saw the red tongue and asked about his usual irritability, he changed to Huang Lian Agaricus Tang, and after his sleep improved, he was given Roasted Glycyrrhiza Glabra Soup to regulate the symptoms. Spleen and stomach diseases are common and frequent, and psychosocial factors and psychological state play a role in the development of spleen and stomach diseases. Numerous studies have confirmed that psychological factors such as anxiety and depression can disrupt gastrointestinal motor function and secretion function through the brain and intestinal axis, or make the inner brain feel allergic. The gastrointestinal system is one of the most emotionally expressive organs, and anxiety, depression, and anger can inhibit digestive activity. And such psychological factors can interfere with the normal activity of the central nervous system and cause gastrointestinal dysfunction through the vegetative and endocrine systems. And meridian medicine, because of its time-tested efficacy and wide range of flexible indications, has unique advantages in dealing with this somato-psychological homoeopathy, and we should all try to learn and master this weapon.
