Schizophrenia can occur in adults and children, and it is one of the more common psychiatric disorders in children. The clinical features of schizophrenia in children are described here. It is mainly characterized by disorders of thought association, emotional disorders, and a marked abnormality and incongruity with the activity manifestations of age-appropriate behaviors. So what are the possible causes of the disease? 1, genetic factors The incidence of children with this disease who have a genetic history of mental illness in the family is high (16% to 64%). Xia Zhenyi and others believe that the inheritance of children with schizophrenia to polygenic inheritance is likely to be large, the degree of inheritance is 70%, the incidence of first-degree relatives of the disease: parents for 4.0%; the same chest for 6.7%. Some people think that if parents suffer from schizophrenia, the risk of their children suffering from schizophrenia is about 40%; if one of the parents suffers from schizophrenia, the risk of their children suffering from schizophrenia is 7% to 17%, which indicates that genetic factors play an important role. Organic factors It is more common for children with this disease to have a history of perinatal damage. Delayed maturation of neurological development, soft signs in neurological examination and electroencephalogram abnormality are also common. In recent years, it has been found that the P300 latency of evoked potentials in children with schizophrenia is significantly shortened and the amplitude of wave is reduced; the results of cranial CT scan, magnetic resonance imaging MRI and other studies suggest that damage to the frontal lobe, basal ganglia and temporal lobe is closely related to schizophrenia. Psychosocial factors Schizophrenia is more commonly triggered by strong mental trauma in children, such as parental separation, death of relatives, and failure to get promoted to higher education, and psychosocial factors have an important influence on the continuation of the course of the disease and its prognosis. 4.Pre-morbid character traits Children with this disease are mostly introverted before the disease, and the influence of environmental factors on the basis of personality deviation or dysfunction increases the risk of morbidity. 5, biochemical factors This aspect of schizophrenia in children is less studied. It is generally believed that this disease is related to the over-activity of the central dopaminergic system and the insufficiency of noradrenergic function. Some studies have found that plasma dopamine beta-hydroxylase is increased in children with this disorder, while the cholinergic system is inhibited.
