How long can HPV infection live?

HPV infection usually does not directly affect the patient’s daily life as well as his or her life. Human papillomavirus, or HPV for short, is divided into high-risk HPV infections and low-risk HPV infections. High-risk HPV infection is closely related to cervical cancer in women. If HPV infection is not treated effectively, about 5-10% of patients will develop persistent HPV infection, while only 2-3% of patients with persistent HPV infection will eventually develop cervical cancer. Therefore, most HPV infections can heal on their own and do not lead to serious consequences, let alone endanger the patient’s life. However, after HPV infection, patients need to take an aggressive approach to treatment and have regular checkups. In daily life, patients are advised to develop good living and eating habits and go to the hospital for HPV screening regularly, which can effectively prevent HPV infection and cervical cancer.
