Depression self-test questions

       Directions: In the past 2 weeks, have you done any of the following? If yes, please add up the numbers in front of each question and compare the results to the ones that follow. Hint: The results of this self-test are for reference only. Only a qualified doctor can make a diagnosis of the disease.  1. Can’t get up or have no interest in doing things. 2. Feel depressed, frustrated or hopeless. 3. Have difficulty falling asleep, sleeping restlessly or sleeping too much. 4. Feel tired or have no energy. 5. Lose appetite or eat too much. 6. Feel bad about yourself or feel like a failure or let yourself or your family down. 7. Have difficulty focusing on things, such as not being able to concentrate when reading the newspaper or watching TV. 8. Move or talk so slowly that others have noticed. Or just the opposite: irritability or fidgeting, moving around more than usual. 9. Having thoughts of lightheartedness or hurting oneself in some way. The results are analyzed as follows: No depression 5-9 points Possible mild depression 10-14 points Possible moderate depression 15-19 points Possible major depression 20-27 points
