What are the principles of treatment for hepatic encephalopathy?

  Principles of treatment for hepatic encephalopathy: 1. Remove causative factors, such as severe infection, bleeding and electrolyte disturbance (III); 2. Restrict protein diet (III).  3.Apply lactulose or lactitol, orally or by high enema, which can acidify the intestinal tract, promote ammonia excretion and reduce the absorption of toxins of intestinal origin (III); 4.Choose ammonia-lowering drugs such as arginine and ornithine-menthylate as appropriate depending on the patient’s electrolyte and acid-base balance (III); 5.Use branched-chain amino acids or mixed preparations of branched-chain amino acids and arginine as appropriate to correct amino acid imbalance (III); 6.III Tracheal intubation is recommended for hepatic encephalopathy of degree III or higher (III).  7.Phenytoin or benzodiazepine sedative drugs with short half-life can be used as appropriate for patients with convulsions, and preventive medication is not recommended (III).  8, artificial liver support therapy (III).
