About Artificial Insemination for Assisted Reproduction

Artificial insemination refers to the use of instruments to inject semen into the cervical canal opening, within or around it or even into the uterine cavity to replace sexual intercourse to make women pregnant: I. Preparation of semen Before using the husband’s sperm for artificial insemination, the husband should abstain from sex for 3 to 5 days, and the husband should wash his hands and around the penis before taking the sperm on the same day, and use the masturbation method to take the sperm, taking care to avoid touching the sterile, non-toxic inner opening of the sperm cup to ensure that the sperm is taken intact. Send it to the laboratory immediately. After the semen is liquefied, routine semen analysis is performed, including semen volume, liquefaction time, sperm count, motility rate and agglutination, etc. Different methods are selected for preferential treatment according to semen quality. The whole process is carried out inside the ultra-clean table to ensure sterility. Commonly used semen processing methods generally include: washing, upstream, downstream, Percoll gradient centrifugation, micro-Percoll gradient centrifugation, etc. The preferentially selected semen is placed at 37°C and set aside for use. II. Surgery For artificial insemination, 0,3~0,5ml of the preferentially processed semen is slowly injected into the uterine cavity by intrauterine insemination method. The whole process is strictly aseptic. The patient must lie flat with legs together for 30-60 minutes. Generally, one artificial insemination is performed in each line one day before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. The artificial insemination will be finished in 2-3 minutes. If you leave the clinic immediately, the semen injected will flow out from the vagina. After the end of the procedure, the woman should close her knees tightly, raise her legs slightly, and lie still for ten minutes in this state (Note: At present, the semen for artificial insemination is washed and concentrated to about 0.3ml before it is injected deep into the uterus, so there is not much chance of outflow, and it is not necessary to lie down for a long time). The most important thing to note when performing artificial insemination is that the injected semen should not flow out. 2, prohibit strenuous exercise After the artificial insemination, you can go home directly, you do not have to lie in bed after going home, you can do the same as usual household chores. However, it is important to avoid strenuous exercise such as running and jumping on the same day. You can take a bath on the same day, but you can’t soak in the bath free tank.
