Infants are often susceptible to various types of liver disease, but most of them do not have obvious and typical clinical manifestations, especially in the early stage of the disease, or even no clinical manifestations, the baby’s mental state, sleep, diet and activities are no different from those of healthy children, and easy to be ignored by parents, delaying the best time for treatment. In fact, babies with liver disease, as long as careful observation, there are still signs to be found, to do early detection. How to early detection of whether the baby suffers from liver disease, from three aspects of observation and inspection. 1, an observation: observe whether there is jaundice in the skin sclera. Jaundice is caused by elevated bilirubin in the blood, resulting in yellowing of the skin and sclera. The first part to appear is the sclera, when bilirubin rises to a certain level, the skin also appears to be yellow, showing a brownish-yellow color. In infants and young children, there is a relationship between the site of jaundice and the degree of jaundice. The order of appearance of jaundice is generally from top to top, if jaundice occurs on the face and forehead, it is mild jaundice; if jaundice occurs on the trunk, it is moderate jaundice; if jaundice occurs on the skin of the limbs, it is severe jaundice. Jaundice is an important signal of liver disease and an early sign. Observation method: in natural light, first observe the baby’s sclera, normally white, if there is yellow or yellowish, that is, jaundice characteristics. Secondly, observe the forehead, have a hand to gently press the baby’s forehead skin, under normal circumstances, press the part of the skin is white, let go of the skin quickly turn to white with red, while jaundice is yellow. 2.Touch: Touch the baby’s abdomen to find out whether the liver and spleen are enlarged. The liver is usually located in the right upper abdomen and the spleen is located in the left upper abdomen. Enlargement of the liver or spleen is also an important signal of liver disease. Observation method: the right upper abdomen is bulging in the upright position, and there is a lump when touching it in the lying position, which shows that the liver is enlarged; if the left upper abdomen is bulging in the upright position, and there is a lump when touching it in the lying position, it indicates that the spleen is enlarged. 3.Three checks: it is to draw venous blood to check liver function and ultrasound examination of the liver. Liver is the largest metabolic organ in human body, and it is very easy to be affected by drugs, poisons or other diseases, and abnormalities occur. Liver function tests and/or liver ultrasound are needed in the following cases: those who are found to have jaundice or hepatosplenomegaly; obese children; use of medications, especially those that are prone to liver damage, such as antipyretics, chemotherapy drugs, anti-tuberculosis drugs, immunosuppressants, hypoglycemic drugs, hypolipidemic drugs and antibiotics, etc.; other serious illnesses such as infectious diseases in other parts of the body, immune diseases, etc.; family members who have liver diseases; annual health checkups; and other diseases that are found to have liver problems.
