Of the many pediatric neurosurgical conditions, the one that you as a practitioner would least expect is trauma. Trauma in children, especially cranial and spinal trauma, has become the leading cause of death and disability in preschool children. Children are active by nature and lack the ability to protect themselves, so the incidence of trauma in children is higher than in adults. How much damage a child will bring to the family and the country if he or she dies or is disabled due to trauma. We hope that the whole society can be conscious and protect children and teenagers to avoid trauma as much as possible. 1. First of all, parents, as the guardians of their children, are duty-bound. Be aware of safety at all times, especially in unfamiliar environments, and be conscious of the dangers that exist there so as to avoid injury to your child. Here is a living example, parents take their children to the restaurant dining, the result of the child accident from a high fall, despite the best efforts, the child still left. 2, but also to educate the child those actions are dangerous and should be avoided. For example, walking or running with a relatively sharp object. Here is an example of a child who fell while running with a movable pencil and ended up with the pencil poking into the cranial cavity. Children are naive and may imitate some actions from TV, movies or literature. Parents need to actively guide to avoid these dangerous actions. 3. We should try to cultivate children’s concept of traffic safety, look at signals and wear crosswalks when crossing the road, do not cross the road indiscriminately, do not rush and fight for the road, and do not run and fight when crossing the road. At the same time, parents should be good role models. 4, all members of society should also develop a sense of protection of children. Whether driving motor vehicles or non-motorized vehicles, in areas with a high concentration of children, they should drive at low speed, be courteous and restrained, and not compete or grab. We hope that all members of the community will work together and do their best to prevent children from being injured. Hopefully, our trauma surgery rate will get lower every year.
