Spontaneous pneumothorax is mostly seen in young people, more males than females, and most of the causes are caused by rupture of pulmonary blisters, which can lead to tension pneumothorax, spontaneous hemopneumothorax, and in severe cases, death by shock. The treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax has two options: conservative treatment and surgical treatment. Conservative treatment is for patients with a first attack and no more than 50% lung compression. Surgical treatment is required for first-time patients with more than 50% lung compression, for patients with first episode treated conservatively for more than 5 days, and for patients with recurrent episodes. Minimally invasive thoracoscopic treatment is the best treatment option for spontaneous pneumothorax because it is less invasive and has faster recovery.
