Dietary advice for gout patients

  Normal human purine intake can be as much as 600 to 1000 mg/day. Gout patients should not consume more than 100-150 mg per day during an arthritis attack. Therefore, we should have a “spectrum” in mind: which foods contain more purines and should be eaten as little as possible, and which foods contain less purines and should be eaten more often. According to the purine content, food is divided into three categories: low purine food (less than 25 mg of purine per 100 grams of food), medium purine food (25-150 mg of purine per 100 grams of food) and high purine food (150-1000 mg of purine per 100 grams of food).  Low purine foods (eat at will) – staple foods: rice, millet, corn, glutinous rice, barley, wheat, oats, buckwheat, cereals, noodles, steamed buns, cakes, bread, cookies, starch, sorghum, macaroni, potatoes, yams, winter flour, etc. Milk: fresh milk, condensed milk, cheese, cream of wheat, milk powder, ice cream, etc. Meat and eggs: eggs, duck eggs, skin eggs, pig blood, chicken blood, goose blood, duck blood, etc. Vegetables: cabbage, cabbage, lettuce, amaranth, potherb mustard, celery, mustard leaves, pumpkin, carrot, leek, leek, tomato, eggplant, cucumber, winter melon, bitter melon, loofah, radish, kale, gourd, wood ear, kimchi, etc. Fruits: apple, banana, date, pear, mango, orange, orange, lemon, grape, pomegranate, peach, pipa, pineapple, peach, plum, watermelon, papaya, longan, etc. Beverages: soda, mineral water, fruit juice, etc. Others: cocoa, jelly, chocolate, jam, soy sauce, honey, melon seeds, walnuts, vegetable oil, hazelnuts, butter, cream, coix seeds, sugar.  Medium purine foods (controlled eating) – soy products: tofu (dried), soy milk, soy milk, mung beans, red beans, fava beans, bean sprouts. Meat: chicken, turkey, duck, goose, pigeon, quail, pork, beef, lamb, dog, venison, rabbit. Aquatic products: grass carp, carp, cod, flounder, sea bass, pike, eel, eel, abalone, aromatic snail. Vegetables: spinach, asparagus, beans, green beans, beans, cowpeas, peas, kelp, mushrooms, golden needle mushrooms, silver fungus, cauliflower, garlic, rape, coronary. Others: peanuts, cashew nuts, sesame seeds, chestnuts, lotus seeds, almonds, wolfberries.  High purine foods (do not eat) – beans and vegetables: soybeans, lentils, purple cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, wheat sprouts, bean seedlings. Meat: animal liver, intestines, heart, stomach & stomach, lungs, brain, pork, beef kidney, dried meat, thick gravy. Aquatic products: sardines, anchovies, mackerel, silver carp, oysters, sharks, scallops, kissing fish, moray eels, pompano, dried flatfish, fish skin, fish eggs, clams, oysters, oysters, mussels, dried scallops, shrimp (grass shrimp, golden hook shrimp, small shrimp, shrimp rice), sea cucumber. Others: yeast powder, various kinds of alcohol (especially beer).
