Recently, the ward has received a lot of eye trauma, many of which are children and young people in their 20s. Some are children whose eyes were directly broken by their mothers throwing the clothesline out, others whose eyes were broken by badminton when playing badminton, others who were injured by firecrackers, and others who were injured by the back of a chair when a college student went out to donate blood during the summer and got up and fainted after returning home to sleep in the afternoon. There are also chickens pecked eyes. All kinds of reasons, the same result is that the child’s eyesight was severely damaged. There was even a poor woman who was gouged in the eye by her husband, which may permanently damage her eyesight. But no matter what, after the trauma, you must go to the hospital in time to get the eye stitched up. Then you have to go to a hospital with better conditions for further treatment as soon as possible. Try to get timely treatment within 2 weeks after the injury is stitched up. The college student mentioned earlier was told by a doctor in the hospital that her eye was too badly injured to be saved because she had no light perception after the stitches. But the girl later had light perception, so she was not willing to be left with such a fate, so she came to our hospital once again with hope to our retinal surgery department, and came to diagnose that it was already early eye atrophy. Surgical exploration revealed that most of her retina was present and in good condition, but because she came too late (already 3 months after the injury), her ciliary epithelium (the structure that keeps the pressure on the eye so that it does not atrophy) had been partially damaged, so it would depend on the recovery of the ciliary body whether the eye would be preserved in the future. If it comes early, this patient’s chances of preserving the eye and retaining some of his or her vision will be greatly increased. Therefore, we must pay attention to protect our eyes in our life! If you encounter someone who encounters trauma, you should also pay attention to the time of eye trauma resuscitation, that is, after the suturing of the eye after the injury, you must get another timely treatment within 2 weeks. Even if someone says the eye is not working, don’t listen to one side of the story, go back to do a little probing, there may be hope. Don’t give up so easily!
