Behcet’s disease (BD) is a systemic, chronic, inflammatory disease of the blood vessels. The main clinical manifestations are recurrent oral ulcers, genital ulcers, ophthalmia and skin damage, but it can also involve blood vessels, nervous system, digestive tract, joints, lungs, kidneys, epididymis and other organs. It occurs in young and middle-aged men. The disease is divided into vascular, neurological, and gastrointestinal types according to the systemic damage of the internal organs. The vascular type refers to those with large and medium-sized arterial and venous involvement; the neurological type refers to those with central or peripheral nerve involvement; the gastrointestinal type refers to those with gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding, and perforation.
